“My last exterminating company could not keep up a regular maintenance schedule. They never sent the same tech twice and their results were really much less than terrific. My uncle was recommended AKA. They came right away. The guys have been very professional and the results have been outstanding. I can trust AKA.” – B.R. owns a 42,000 sq.ft. warehouse in Brooklyn

Roaches Are The Unwanted Guests Who Move In Without An Invitation

AKA knows how to stop them in their tracks and send them packing permanently—professionally.

Roaches are a problem, not just because they’re ugly crawlers, but because they spread germs wherever they go. Without our knowing, they’re often brought into the office in a paper grocery bag or from our work environment. They are nocturnal creatures who snack on food, damage wallpaper and books, and can infect you and your staff. They’re easily identified by their spiny legs and long antennae as they leave a trail of tiny brown slime stains or pellets.

If you walk into your building and see roaches crawling across the floor, it’s time to call AKA for a free inspection and evaluation.

Do You Have An Ant Problem? We Can Help!

You might be surprised to know there are a lot of different types of ants. The most common ones you might find in or around your home include: acrobat ants, argentine ants, carpenter ants, crazy ants, fire ants, and field ants. There are four distinct life stages for ants, as they start as eggs for about one to two weeks, become larvae, then pupae, and finally an adult.

Ants live in groups, which are referred to as “colonies.” Colonies are commonly built inside trees or underground and can contain up to 300,000 to 500,000 ants. These colonies are ruled by the queen ant and each ant in the colony has a specific job to perform. Due to their size, ants can enter your home through the smallest cracks, as they search for water and food. Once ants have found a food source inside your property, they leave a scent trail, which contains pheromones. This tells other ants to follow their trail to find the food source.

While many might not think too much of these little critters, some types of ants can actually be harmful to both you and your home. Fire ants can physically harm you as they bite to get a grip on your skin, then they sting you. When they sting you, they inject a venom called Solenopsin. This is dangerous both to you and any small animals.

When it comes to your property, carpenter ants are ones that are particularly dangerous. These ants make their nests in wood, which can cause structural damage to your work environment if they choose your property as their nesting place.

If You’ve Got The Buzz, You’ve Been Warned

Beware of dangerous stings! AKA knows how to protect your staff from the deadly stings of wasps, hornets, and bees. Stinging insects are beneficial to our environment by pollinating flowers, but we do not want them on or near our property.

The ability to sting, coupled with great mobility, makes bees and wasps some of the most feared of all insects. Some people have life-threatening allergic reactions to the stings. It’s not hard to see the difference between these pests and their characteristic nests: hornets and paper wasps make nests of paper. Honey bees and bumblebees make nests of wax. But you can’t always see where the nests are hidden. For example, solitary bees and wasps nest in holes in the ground, rotten wood or natural cavities. Some wasps even make mud nests.

If you have even one bee, hornet or wasp buzzing around, there may be a nest or colony nearby. Popular sprays and treatments are not enough to deal with the infestation. Contact AKA so that we can treat the problem at the source.

The Problem Is Simple: Mice And Rat Infestations Scare People And Close Businesses

The solution is also simple: just call AKA for emergency service and a free evaluation and estimate.

Mice are small rodents that can multiply rapidly. They feed on stored products, bathroom accessories and all kinds of seeds including bird and lawn seed. Once inside an area, you will find their droppings where they forage for food. Their droppings are small, black, oval shaped and about the size of a grain of rice. Infestations can lead to odor problems, damage, and mess.

Rats are the rodents which will move into any structure. They can scale most surfaces and can climb up brick, stucco or wood siding. Once inside your property, they prefer to nest low in kitchens and bathrooms. Their droppings are about the size of a black or red bean.Larger rodent infestations may require one of our licensed wildlife removal experts. A main key to rodent prevention is “Exclusion”! Sealing rodents from a structure is paramount and part of a comprehensive rodent control program. Call the AKA Team for details.

Do You Have Bed Bugs? Call Us Immediately So We Can Help!

Bed-bugs are prolific and multiply rapidly. Getting rid of them is not a job for amateurs. Many people who try to eliminate bed bugs by themselves usually end up calling a professional, and by that time, the infestation has become more widespread and is more difficult to eliminate. Once a bed bug infestation occurs, it is among the most difficult infestations to eliminate because of the need to find and to destroy all of the eggs as well as any living bed bugs. Eliminating bed bugs is not a trial-and-error do-it-yourself project. You need the rapid and thorough response of AKA Pest Control to solve the problem and save you time, money and anguish.

We Can Eradicate Your Flea Problem!

Full-sized fleas are insects that are a dark brown color. They are about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch long, flattened, wingless, and with hard shell bodies that make them very difficult to crush. Fleas have large hind legs that allow them to jump very far. This makes it easy to travel around their host. A flea lays about 20 eggs per day, allowing them to reproduce very quickly. Fleas feed by sucking the blood of animals (or any warm blooded mammal, including humans) with its specialized piercing mouth parts. Outdoors they usually land and host on rats, mice, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, and foxes. Indoors, they feed on your pets–and you! These nasty insects are known for carrying diseases such as allergic dermatitis, tapeworm and a variety of bacterial infections. If you have fleas or think you do, contact us today for a free evaluation!
